"If you are going to Bryce, buy a polarizer", the lissome lass at Ritz Camera told me. I bought one without understanding what it does - which I don't do often - and did not repent one bit.
The next day I was in Bryce and spent the first hour learning the polarizing filter by trial and error. I r5ealized it deepens the blue of the sky, enhances the mid-tone, cuts down reflections.
I developed a very simple rule of thumb for using the polarizing filter.
"If a scene looked better through my Maui Jim, it would photograph better with the polarizer"
